خططت مجموعة من الأصدقاء لنزهة في الحديقة يوم الأحد. اتفقوا على أن يحضر كل شخص شيئا: خبزا، أو سلطة، أو فاكهة. وكانت ريم مسؤولة عن اختيار المكان.
قبل النزهة بيوم، تغيرت تَوَقُّعَات الطقس. أرسلت ريم رسالة تقول إن المطر قد يستمر طوال النهار. اقترح أحد الأصدقاء إِلْغَاء النزهة، لكن ريم قالت: «إذا بقينا ننتظر يوما مثاليا، فقد لا نلتقي أبدا. يمكننا أن نجتمع في بيتي».
في صباح الأحد، وضعوا الطعام على طاولة صغيرة، وفرشوا غطاء على أرض غرفة الجلوس. جلسوا حوله كَأَنَّهُمْ في الحديقة، بينما كانت قطرات المطر تضرب النافذة. لم يكن هناك عشب أو شمس، لكن الحديث استمر ساعات. وعندما أرادوا التقاط صورة، وقف الجميع قرب نبات صغير في الغرفة. ضحكت ريم وقالت: «على الأقل، عندنا شيء أخضر!» كانت النزهة مختلفة عن الخطة، لكنها لم تكن أقل متعة.
English translation
A group of friends planned a picnic in the park on Sunday. They agreed that everyone would bring something: bread, salad, or fruit. Reem was responsible for choosing the place.
The day before the picnic, the weather forecast changed. Reem sent a message saying it might rain all day. One friend suggested cancelling, but Reem said, ‘If we keep waiting for a perfect day, we may never meet. We can get together at my home.’
On Sunday morning, they put the food on a small table and spread a blanket on the living-room floor. They sat around it as if they were in the park, while raindrops struck the window. There was no grass or sunshine, but the conversation lasted for hours. When they wanted to take a photograph, everyone stood beside a small plant in the room. Reem laughed and said, ‘At least we have something green!’ The picnic was different from the plan, but it was no less enjoyable.
