Shadowing
Practise your Arabic listening and pronunciation with 20 graded stories in Modern Standard Arabic, from short beginner texts to more advanced readings.
Each story includes a suggested course pack, useful vocabulary, an English translation and comprehension questions. Beginner texts include vowel marks to support your reading; later stories gradually use fewer.
How to use this section
- Choose a story. Use the suggested pack label as a guide. Start with an easier text if you need to.
- Understand the text. Read the Arabic and check unfamiliar vocabulary. Use the English translation when needed.
- Listen first. Follow the text while listening once without speaking.
- Try shadowing. Play it again and speak aloud just behind the voice, following its pronunciation and rhythm.
- Practise in smaller steps. Slow down the playback or repeat individual sentences before attempting the whole story.
- Check your understanding. Answer the comprehension questions, then compare your responses with the suggested answers. Finish by reading the story aloud on your own.
Audio is AI-generated. Stories are ordered by reading difficulty; suggested packs are a guide. The final five stories are advanced extensions beyond Intermediate 2.2.
