دَعَا نَادِرٌ صَدِيقَهُ إِلَى الْعَشَاءِ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ. أَرَادَ أَنْ يَطْبُخَ الدَّجَاجَ وَالْأَرُزَّ، لِأَنَّ صَدِيقَهُ يُحِبُّ هٰذَا الطَّعَامَ. بَدَأَ فِي السَّاعَةِ الْخَامِسَةِ. غَسَلَ الْأَرُزَّ وَقَطَّعَ الْخُضْرَاوَاتِ. ثُمَّ رَنَّ هَاتِفُهُ. تَكَلَّمَ مَعَ أُخْتِهِ وَنَسِيَ الدَّجَاجَ فِي الْفُرْنِ. عِنْدَمَا وَصَلَ صَدِيقُهُ، كَانَ الْأَرُزُّ جَيِّدًا، وَلٰكِنَّ الدَّجَاجَ كَانَ أَسْوَدَ! قَالَ نَادِرٌ: «عِنْدَنَا أَرُزٌّ وَخُضْرَاوَاتٌ، وَلٰكِنْ لَيْسَ عِنْدَنَا دَجَاجٌ». ضَحِكَ صَدِيقُهُ وَقَالَ: «لَا مُشْكِلَةَ. نَطْلُبُ دَجَاجًا مِنَ الْمَطْعَمِ وَنَأْكُلُهُ مَعَ أَرُزِّكَ!»
English translation
Nader invited his friend to dinner on Saturday. He wanted to cook chicken and rice because his friend likes that food. He started at five. He washed the rice and cut the vegetables. Then his phone rang. He spoke to his sister and forgot the chicken in the oven. When his friend arrived, the rice was good, but the chicken was black! Nader said, ‘We have rice and vegetables, but we don’t have chicken.’ His friend laughed and said, ‘No problem. We’ll order chicken from the restaurant and eat it with your rice!’
